SOLAR PANEL CLEANING ROBOT

PESE has successfully researched designed, tested, and implemented the RP0XPV solar panel cleaning robot in real-world operations. This generation of semi-autonomous robots was directly researched, engineered, and developed by POM—PECC2’s Power Plant Operation and Maintenance Branch—to address the specific, real-world requirements of our clients.

Why is Solar Panel Cleaning Essential?

To optimize the operation of solar power plants, there is a critical demand for rigorous inspection, performance evaluation, and the implementation of efficiency-enhancement measures. A primary example is the systematic removal of accumulated dust and debris from PV modules, which is essential to restoring peak generation capacity and maximizing the plant's overall energy yield.

Accumulated environmental contaminants—such as dust, moss, pollen, and even stubborn residues like lichen or bird droppings—can significantly degrade plant performance and erode investor returns.

To achieve peak efficiency, solar arrays require periodic cleaning; however, the vast scale of these installations presents a massive logistical challenge. Consequently, Power Engineering Consulting JSC 2 – Power Plant Operation and Maintenance Branch (POM) has adopted specialized solar cleaning robots. These units utilize high-pressure water to clean PV surfaces, significantly increasing efficiency and reducing operational costs compared to manual labor.

Our RP0XPV – The solar panel cleaning robot

RP0XPV is the pioneering semi-autonomous solar cleaning robot researched, engineered, and deployed by POM. This technological innovation is designed to excel under the diverse operational conditions of solar power plants across Vietnam.

The robot operates on a dual-action principle, utilizing a pressurized water system combined with specialized cleaning brushes. This ensures the efficient removal of stubborn contaminants without compromising the integrity of the PV module surfaces.

Safety and Versatility of the RP0XPV Solar Cleaning Robot

With a compact and lightweight design (only 42kg), the RP0XPV can be easily deployed onto solar arrays. It moves and cleans automatically, ensuring no structural stress or damage is inflicted on the panels.

Furthermore, the robot features an adjustable chassis to adapt to specific site conditions. It is capable of cleaning up to three rows of panels simultaneously in two different directions, with a brush length extending up to 6 meters. For enhanced safety and convenience, the unit can be operated via remote control from a distance of up to 500 meters.
