On January 26, 2025, the Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant successfully synchronized its first unit (Unit 1) with the national grid. This critical milestone serves as the foundation for upcoming regulatory compliance testing, paving the way for reliability runs and the commencement of Commercial Operation (COD) in February 2025.
Developed by HBE, the Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant broke ground in December 2022 in Thuan An Ward, Long My Town, Hau Giang Province.

The Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant represents a major leap for renewable energy in the Mekong Delta. Spanning across Hau Giang Province, this 20 MW facility transforms agricultural by-products like rice husks into clean energy, generating 130 million kWh per year. As the largest biomass plant in the region, it is a flagship project supported by the Japanese Government’s JCM credits.
